Doodles

Original Art Bronze — Unique Pieces, stamped “1/1 – P U” in the bronze.

The doll is humanity’s first toy. No culture is without it: everywhere, in every age, rags have been sewn together to give a body to what we love. The Doodles descend from this lineage.

Each Doodle is unique. It is born on a given day, at a given hour, and exists only once. What is born once is not born again: in lost-wax casting, the mould dies in the birth — no piece can ever be made again.

Created in 2013, the centenary year of Marcel Duchamp’s first ready-made, the Doodles bear the title Ready-Made Myself: a nod to the notion of the ready-made and to the idea of the “handmade” — for George carries out every stage herself, from the wax to the chasing.

Doodles — three unique bronzes: black, brown and gold patinas

Three formats

The Doodles come in three sizes:

Doodle — 33 cm. The original form, a doll of memory.
Tiki Popa’a — 75 cm. Inspired by the civilisations of the Pacific; the tiki, the Maori “man-god”, a protective talisman.
Tavana Rahi — 150 cm and above. Polynesian in inspiration, the guardian of the place — named after the Tahitian village chief, wise and respected.

Adopt a Doodle

A Doodle is not bought: it is adopted. No piece is available for immediate sale. Each adoption request is recorded, and the births are allotted one by one, in the order of the requests. Every Doodle is signed and accompanied by its certificate of authenticity. Contact the artist: thegeorgearts@gmail.com.
